L4M1 Revision Guidance

L4M1 is a 3 hour essay-based exam. I passed this exam with high marks, but I had to dedicate a lot of time to it. My notes are extensive and hand-written, so difficult to upload. Resources that I used are below:

  • Profex textbook: I would recommend buying a textbook for this exam, due to the level of depth required. Profex came recommended to me because they distil the content down well. I spent a lot of time going through the textbook and taking notes.
  • Procurement Study Buddy: I have linked the first video in the L4M1 series from Procurement Study Buddy. This was a really useful revision resource delivered with clarity. The L4M1 set of videos is up-to-date with the new 2023- syllabus.
  • Sample Answers on YouTube: BusinessAcademyOnline have done 4 sample answer videos from L4M1 on their channel. I have linked the first one. It is worth going through these to understand the standard of written exam answers. They have also done past exam analysis across many previous years.
  • CIPS Procurement Cycle: There are 13 steps in the CIPS Procurement Cycle. This is worth memorising. It will be covered by the textbooks and Procurement Study Buddy, but I have also linked it here.

The CIPS recommended reading for Level 4 is Lysons and Farrington's Procurement and Supply Chain Management. It is an exhaustive textbook across all Level 4 Modules.

For those thinking about essay-writing: Jackson and Crocker's 102 Models of Procurement and Supply Chain Management offers some useful guidance.

Hope this helps and good luck!
